BOY FIRES SHOT AT STORE
Bites Policeman When He Takes Revolver from Him
William Stiles, 15 years old, who says he lives in Detroit, Mich, is detained at the Shelter on a charge of juvenile delinquency. He was taken into custody late Thursday night after he had fired several shots at a store in the vicinity of North and Grove streets. He was under the influence of liquor and was taken to the Shelter. Patrolman John Miller, of the Franklin street station, heard the shots. Hurrying to North Street he saw the boy with the gun in his hand. He tried to induce the boy to surrender the weapon. He had to take it by force and was bitten on a hand in the tussle.
Richard Redfern, superintendent of the S.P.C.C learned from Stiles that he came here a short while ago to visit a brother who is employed in a Clinton avenue north restaurant. he admitted he had drank beer and whisky on Thursday, but said he did not recall where he obtained the stuff. If his source of supply can be learned the police authorities will act.
As the boy has a home in Detroit and has money to pay his fare to that city, it is probably that he will be permitted to go there.
